The idea of Nepal Without Limits was conceived at the foot of the highest mountain in the world. In January of 2020, on the way to the Everest Base Camp, Joanna Steinel and her guide, Ram Magar, brainstormed ideas on how to combine their passion for adventure and mountain climbing with their desire to help local communities.
Nepal Without Limits is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to the most impoverished communities in Nepal. In today’s world, ravaged by the pandemic and economic inequality, scarcity of resources is omnipresent, and Nepal, already disadvantaged by geo-political circumstances and so uniquely dependent on tourism, has suffered more than most places. Nepal Without Limits strongly believes that the wellbeing of children sets the foundation for the health and prosperity of their communities. Therefore, our focus is to provide educational and economic assistance to children in rural areas of Nepal.
It was then that the idea of trekking with a purpose emerged, and a few months later Joanna and Ram created Nepal Without Limits.
In the spring of 2021, with only private, individual donations, Nepal Without Limits provided uniforms, workbooks, school supplies and sports equipment to 150 students in the village of Lapubesi in the Gorkha region. This June, 2021, we helped pay for medical supplies to fight the pandemic in the village of Solukhumbu. In November 2022, Nepal Without Limits embarked on its inaugural climb and successfully summitted Mera Peak in the Himalayas and undertook its corresponding fundraiser for students in the Solukhumbu’s elementary schools.
